Persistence files

To have the ability to save data/informations on some Live USBs (like the ones created with usb-creator or cd2usb), it is required a to have a "persistence file" (note that usb-creator or cd2usb can automatically create persistence files). It is just a "special" file named "casper-rw". If that file exists on the Live USB (and the Live USB is configured to use it, of course) ALL the changes made to the system are saved inside that file.

Download persistence files here:

Usage

If your Live USB is configured to use persistence files, just extract the file you downloaded into the USB flash drive.

Notes

  • Bigger sizes are not possible due to limitations of the FAT filesystem
  • persistence does not work on versions of Ubuntu older than 8.10
