File mounter (user-mode Edition) is a possible future version of File mounter that would not require root privileges to mount files.

Advantages

  • User to not need root privileges to mount files

Disadvantages

  • Some parts of File mounter (user-mode Edition) will only work on x86 and x64 (mountlo limitations)
  • For technical reasons (mountlo limitations), a filesystem-based file (etx2/etx3/etx4/iso/etc...) can only be mounted once. This means if another user mounted the same file, you can't mount it. Solution: copy the file to another location, and then you should be able to mount it.

not Available, use the regular File mounter for now
