Super OS 11.04 includes a local repository with several drivers and other software. It is located at /opt/locrepo and is based on LocRepo
Contents |
Included software
- Several nvidia drivers, including the new Nouveau open-source driver with 3D support (libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental)
- ATI drivers (fglrx)
- Broadcom drivers (packages: broadcom-sta-common b43-fwcutter bcm5700-source bcmwl-kernel-source)
- ndiswrapper (installation of Windows WiFi drivers)
- SmartLink software modem daemon (sl-modem-daemon)
- wvdial (PPP dialer)
Browsing the repository
The way to browse the local repository is still not ideal, since Synaptic and other packages managers are not focused on offline repositories, but it is possible to do it:
- Open Synaptic
- Disable all repositories except the local repository - required because if a web repository contains a more recent version of a package also in the local repository, the package manager (APT, Synaptic, etc...) will only display and try to install the version from the web-repository
- Sort packages by installation state (in Synaptic)
Browsing the repository - Guide with screnshots
Step 1: Open Synaptic
Step 8: After browsing the local repository, you might want to re-enable all your repositories, by reverting changes done in step 3 and 4, and doing step 5 after that
Suggest packages
Types of packages wanted:
- Any software that helps users get online: drivers for wifi or ethernet hardware, PPP dialers, web browsers, or related software
- Open-source is preferred, but closed-source is also accepted
If you find a package that you seem appropriate to be included, you can send your suggestions
