Anyway, everything is now almost finished, but now I have exams again (at the university) and I will have to dedicate myself to that…

Apart from this delay, everything is fine and unless there are major technical issues, the distro should be out in the last days of July.

I assume many of you are eagerly waiting for the new release, so I decided to share a way to “upgrade” Ubuntu to Super OS 10.04: http://hacktolive.org/wiki/Super_OS_10.04_repository (It should be pretty safe to “upgrade”)

I will also upload an ISO of Super OS 10.04, something like a “beta version”: I will announce it on this blog once the upload is finished (probably in the next 24 hours).

That is all for now, and sorry for not being able to release the distro sooner.

There are also hints that the source-code of Gish, Penumbra Overture and Lugaru HD will be released if the donations reach 1 million dollars (see image, wired also reports this). The total donated is already at 960 000$, but this offer will close in about 2 hours, so hurry up!

Update: It seems all the engines of the games are now released as open-source.

Due to limited time, I am expecting to only release Super OS next month (June).

As promised, it is expected to have both 32 bits and 64 bits editions.

It is now possible to upgrade Ubuntu 9.10 to Super OS 9.10, even if you don’t have internet, with the “Super OS upgrade pack”.

It should be very similar to the 32 bits version, but I will probably add the “ia32-libs” package, to improve compatibility with 32 bits applications…

It is with great joy that I announce that Super OS is at this momment (3rd of January, 2009) ranked number 1 on DistroWatch, in the 7 days span!

On the 1st of January I noticed it was #2, (Ubuntu was #1), but I never expected it to pass the “father” Ubuntu!

Of course it will go very down on the ranking once the release news of Super OS 9.10 gets old, but still… VERY impressing, in fact: freaking awesome!

Note: Keep in mind this ranking only counts the number of hits/vists the DistroWatch page about Super OS had (it does not count number of downloads nor the number of installations nor anything else)

PS: I did not used any “hacking tools” (nor anything similar to that) to get high rankings.

Here is a summary of the changes:

*Added: File mounter, Google Chrome, Skype, GParted
*Removed: Moonlight support in  Opera, Wubi (due to a bug in ubuntu updates that “kill” wubi installations)
