Super OS 11.04: soon

Development version of Super OS 11.04 (above)
Hello all, just want to inform you that Super OS 11.04 is being prepared and most of the work is already done, it should be released in the next 7 days.
Everything in Ubuntu 11.04 will be kept, including Unity, Dash, and all that. All behavior and appearance will remain like in Ubuntu.
Besides the big changes introduced to Ubuntu, Super OS will have an improved local repository, with easy offline installation of drivers (nvidia, ati/amd, broadcom), which will now be even more useful, since many computers require additional drivers to make Unity work.
I also hope to include and improved version of a program I have been working on… lets see…

I recently purchased a Compaq Presario for a friend who attracts Windows viruses like flies and … cows.
Unfortunately, I installed Super OS on this silly system without testing it first (it’s never failed me before, so …). That’s when I discovered it hangs on startup.
I see you are planning on including some extra drivers, which is good (didn’t see the wireless network I set up at all). Is there any way possible to find a few common fixes for the Compaqs? Looks like it’s a rather common problem.

I don’t usually add hardware-specific “fixes”, because sooner or later they will either break with updates or break other hardware or apps, I’m sure you understand. I think the correct way to handle those problems is to submit an error report to Canonical, so they can test and fix the problems. I will add even more drivers to Super OS 11.04, hopefully, some will work with Compaqs… Cheers

hop you can fix repositorys on ubuntu11.04 dose not.wont fix after 3 installs pen4 2.7 1gig

Decided to ditch the Compaq instead, and now my friend has a Sharp something-or-other. My .iso of SuperOS 10x appears to be corrupted, so it’s running Fedora … which can’t connect to her Airport Extreme for some reason.
Joining with the others who are anxiously awaiting the new release!

Any chance of a SuperOS 11.04 Gnome 3 (default) version? (don’t like Unity)

Sorry, no. Super OS 11.04 will have Unity and a fallback/optional GNOME 2.x environment. You can install GNOME 3.x on it, but I’m not sure if it will be a good idea, since it might break some apps or other stuff… Cheers
