looking forward to it …just in case you didn’t know I have 2 machines that upgraded to 10.04 okay with all applications intact so far .The original chrome and Opera worked okay ..wine didn’t work. Include packages for netbook displays …and update chrome and opera to the latest releases. SuperOs must remain SuperOs

Who ever you are, I’m very proud of you. I like you man. And I’ll always be a fan of SuperOS.
I’ll be waiting.

From Indonesia with love… Long live superOS !!!

The delay may be for the best. People have been complaining about rollout bugs. (I’m NOT talking about the GRUB thing.) It might even be better to wait for a .1 release. (I’m speaking rhetorically.) People also talk about the imminent 2.6.34 kernel like the Holy Grail. In my case, better support for the Broadcom wifi chipsets, and Intel GMA HD. Any chance you’ll be taking tweak requests before you plan to release SuperOs?
hacktolive says:
To be honest I don’t like to change defaults unless in specific cases or simply adding features (mainly because I can’t offer support for the changes). But you can send your suggestions here.

Very nice! I am looking forward to it as well. Thanks for the update and for putting a package together for those of us that like the differences in Super OS. Maybe together we can get Super OS more hits on the http://distrowatch.org website and get it up there with Ubuntu which has been in the #1 spot for weeks.
hacktolive
Super OS is already at top 100 and most of the time in the top 50 and I am already very happy with that. Probably it is best not to do anything, since in the long-term it might hurt Super OS.

I have Super OS Karmic release. Great OS! The easiest install and smoothest operation of any of them. It’s fast and clean and comes loaded with all the best add-ons. Keep up the good work. It’s greatly appreciated.

From Vancouver Island, Canada.
All good things in life are worth waiting for, and Super OS is on the top of my list of good things, keep up the great work.
Many thanks for what you are doing.

Man i really hope you release SuperOS 10.04 64-Bit.
It would be sooo cool!
May 10th, 2010 at 7:58 am
Can’t wait!! For some reason SuperOs just works better then Ubuntu with all stuff installed myself! For some reason my laptop always crashes when I play a online video (non-flash), never happened in SuperOs.
You rock!!

Gracias por esta distro, es de gran utilidad para no estar instalando las herramientas que mas utilizamos. Ademas es muy util para computadoras que no tiene acceso a internet.
Felicitaciones por tu trabajo y esperamos ansiosamente la nueva version… Saludos…

I just can’t wait Super OS 10.04 Release..
i hope some day u can share the “how to” of making Super OS.
Greeting from Indonesia
hacktolive says:
I could share the way I do it, in fact, most of the modifications are made by the package “super-os”, this is installed on top of Ubuntu. The problem is that my method involved a lot of command line and is hard to be used by “normal users”. If you are interested in creating your own “Super OS”, I suggest you start with remastersys, it is VERY easy to use.
May 16th, 2010 at 1:53 pm
I just can’t wait. I installed Ubuntu 10.04, and it is totally invalid without super os’es extra tuning to it. My computing life has never been so easy bebore Super OS. Thank you, thank you, tahnk you very much.
Finland thanks.

I also look forward to the new release. Super OS is my top recommendation to everyone I encounter.
For myself it has proved to be very best out of the 25+ linux distros I have tried. This is the only distro I have felt compelled to leave a comment about.
I am presently loading Super OS on my daughter in law’s laptop. I only regret that the 10.4 version is not yet ready. She has a blank hard drive so I need to put something on it now.
Thank you for a great distro

I have never tried Super OS myself , but I’m looking forward for the 10.04 64bit release
hacktolive says:
It is interesting to see people that never Super OS waiting for the new release!

A Retired perspective
I download 3 other distros regularly, but yours is the one I use on a day to day basis. The distro you build is not overloaded it just seems to have everything that I use, with the exception of songbird. I use it on my Netbook and my entertainment rig.
Waiting with anticipation for S.OS 10.04 64Bit
Thanks from Nanaimo, BC

First of all, thanks for your great work
It is my first post here.
But to be honest this thank you is more of a selfish one than an innocent thank you.
I have a request for your next release, that is if I’m not late, and you already finished it, and you will post it any second now
For more than a month now I am trying to share an NTFS partition on my home network. Ubuntu 10.4 make it not difficult but almost impossible for someone to do that. From auto mount, to installing some stuff for NTFS sharing, to the worst, the permissions of the files and folders that don’t want to change, even if am the owner of all the files. To have to open files with root permissions to change some stuff, like workgroup name and other sutff!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
I really don’t want to go back to XP. Just to share my 100s of Gigas of data.
Sorry for my long reply. But thank you, I see you are doing a great job, I will be one of the first to download your next release Super OS 10.4 x86. Please let it out soon
unless you are adding stuff to make NTFS sharing a little bit less than rocket science.
hacktolive says:
Hello, I have to admit I am not familiar with sharing files on home networks.
First you must take care of auto-mounting the partition (this might help).
After that, I think you must use something like “samba”. Sorry, but I don’t have more knowledge about this
I suggest you to ask the ubuntu people, they will probably be able to help: http://hacktolive.org/wiki/Ubuntu_support.

Is there a way to get a notice when the new Super OS is out? Like a mailingslist or something?
hacktolive says:
Not really, I always felt the blog with RSS was enough, and since nobody requested anything more, I only have this. But I took the liberty to add you to the list of people to be notified once the new version is out.
June 8th, 2010 at 7:24 pm
hey dude!!
just wanted to let you know that super os is by far the best distribution i ever used!!
i’ve been on a lookout for an offline-friendly distro for a long time – and every single one that offered something of that sort had some or even a lot of flaws.
not so super os ^^
ubuntu claims to “just work” – but i think only your remastered version really achieves that – since it really works out of the box – it’s just perfect
i’m anxiously awaiting the next release and i’m certain it will be the best os out there
greetings from germany
hacktolive says:
Hello, it is not by chance that Super OS works properly offline: Making the distro “offline-friendly” is one of my goals. You might also be interested in “SuperDeb Creator”, a final version should be out sooner or later. Cheers

Almost everyday I read your blog. Wondering, when will SuperOS available ?…
I’ll be waiting …
hacktolive says:
Sorry for the delays, hopefully it will be out this month (July).

Of all the distros I have tried, Ubuntu being one. Super OS was the first to work out of the box.Network file share with Ms just one of many problems encountered. Now I’m running Super OS 9.10 on one machine and Ubuntu 10.04 on another because of the 64 bit version. Ubuntu works great and fast fast fast on the 64 bit system but I’ll do what I consider an upgrade to Super OS ASAP. Thanks you thank you thank you.And as an added note I was allowed to upgrade from Super S 9.10 to Ubuntu 10.04. It didn’t work as well for me so I reinstall.
hacktolive says:
Yeah, upgrades like those usually break some things, better to do a fresh install.
June 14th, 2010 at 6:34 pm
Would be possible to have notebook version too?
June 14th, 2010 at 6:36 pm
sorry i mean the netbook version.
hacktolive says:
Hello, I don’t plan to do anything like “ubuntu netbook remix” in the near future
June 16th, 2010 at 9:32 am
I have never tried Super OS myself , but I’m looking forward for the 10.04 32bit release. Can’t wait to test it. You planned to release this in june, but we are already half-way. I’m very curious…..

Perdoe-me a pergunta, mas a ansiedade é grande
, já estamos em Junho, e pergunto se a nova edição do Super OS está dentro prazo (se vai sair em Junho) ou se vai sair com atraso… Previsões há?
Um caloroso cumprimento,
Miguel Ferreira

Hello Good afternoon!
I look forward to the new edition of the Super OS 10.04. I currently have two laptops at home and a desktop with Ubuntu 10.04, but barely get off the new Super OS is installed immediately, as in previous editions the user experience was very rewarding.
Forgive me for asking, but the anxiety is great:-D, we are in June and wonder if the new edition of the Super OS is inside run (if it will go in June) or you’re out late … Forecasts are there?
A warm greeting,
Miguel Ferreira
hacktolive:
Olá, parece que não vai sair “dentro do prazo”, e peço desculpa por isso. Previsões estão aqui: http://hacktolive.org/blog/2010/super-os-10-04-delays/

Hello, it looks like it will not be on schedule, and I am sorry for that, forecasts are here: http://hacktolive.org/blog/2010/super-os-10-04-delays/

Oh, one more question? Do you have an Facebook page?
I think that could me an great way to spread de SuperOS… It’s just an idea…
hacktolive says:
I considered that, but honestly it felt a little wrong to have a facebook page just to promote the distro, so I didn’t do it. It felt a bit like “spam” to me… But it is something I don’t rule out in a possible future.
June 19th, 2010 at 5:21 pm
I found Super OS far more accessible than any other Linux release, and am eagerly awaiting your 10.04 release! Keep up the good work.
June 22nd, 2010 at 4:21 pm
If you don’t want to wait till July or whenever follow this site.and then change when the Super OS comes out.Myself I kept a free partition to install Super on when it comes out.

Can’t wait for this! I never liked Ubuntu until super os came along. Now, I don’t use anything else.
June 30th, 2010 at 8:53 pm
……aaaaah….cant sleep anymore…i need my SuperOS 10.04 ^_^
PS: will you include libk3b6-extracodecs ? i needed it to burn an audio-cd with K3B, without libk3b6-extracodecs, K3B cant convert and burn mp3 to audio-cd
KUTGW ^_^
hacktolive says:
Honestly, I don’t plan to include it since, as you probably understand, I can’t make all users happy, otherwise the distro would be too big for a DVD… Do you have problems installing that package? Are you offline? If the answer is yes, then SuperDeb Creator might be useful for you. Cheers
July 4th, 2010 at 2:19 pm
hallo my dear i need that 9.4 have driver for my lap and i have ati x2500 can y suport it pls
hacktolive says:
Have you tried the “restricted drivers manager” (or whatever they call it today)? It is available at system–>Administration and should suggest drivers for your hardware.
Otherwise I suggest you seek help at the ubuntu forums or launchpad: http://hacktolive.org/wiki/Ubuntu_support, the ubuntu people will probably have an answer for you. Sorry, but its all I can do.
July 4th, 2010 at 2:27 pm
how can i send y some pic to see my prb with youtube ?
hacktolive says:
You can send them using this: http://hacktolive.org/contact

I really like Super OS. Have you decided not to continue new versions of it? It would be a sad event if you have. June is passed. There doesn’t seem to be anything in the way of news concerning this OS. Have you given up?
hacktolive says:
No, not in any way. It is true I have been “away” due to university work, but I still plan to release Super OS 10.04 and I have no plans to discontinue the “Super OS project”.
July 13th, 2010 at 2:15 pm
