Super OS 10.04 delays
July 08, 2010Hi, Super OS 10.04 was supposed to be released a few days ago, and I have spent days and nights working on it, but I encountered some technical problems that delayed everything.
Anyway, everything is now almost finished, but now I have exams again (at the university) and I will have to dedicate myself to that…
Apart from this delay, everything is fine and unless there are major technical issues, the distro should be out in the last days of July.
I assume many of you are eagerly waiting for the new release, so I decided to share a way to “upgrade” Ubuntu to Super OS 10.04: http://hacktolive.org/wiki/Super_OS_10.04_repository (It should be pretty safe to “upgrade”)
I will also upload an ISO of Super OS 10.04, something like a “beta version”: I will announce it on this blog once the upload is finished (probably in the next 24 hours).
That is all for now, and sorry for not being able to release the distro sooner.

Good luck for your exams ^_^, and dont forget to take some rest. We just have to wait a few days, so dont worry about “us” ^_^

Agreed……Your exams are most important. With my daughter in college i no the pressure you have with studies and all nighters, GOOD LUCK. We will be here waiting for the next and greatest os ever…… Suoer OS.

And how to upgrade form SuperOS 9.10 to 10.04?
Just upgrade to Ubuntu 10.04 and install deb file?

Hi worked your super os which is made from 9.10..
it was really impressive.. thats a great worker.. i am eagerly expecting for the next release… As i am doing engineering in the final year B.Tech it … i know the problems your having both the creation of system as well as the studies.. pl look after the studies first.. i doing my final year project in file system… take care .. do your exams well….

I’ve been using SuperOS for quite a few weeks and noticed something that may or may not be particular to the distro.
SuperOS does EVERYTHING period, end of story, and I am more than appreciative of what you have done.
The absolute only thing that I’ve noticed may be a thing over which you have no control. I use nothing but Linux at home and have used SuperOS for several weeks. When I use the supplied FF and log into the college whereat I teach to check e-mail( In MS Exchange Outlook), the unopened e-mail is “plain text”. When I use a regular Ubu, the unopened e-mail is bolded. Also, when I am at a forum, and post a comment and bold it, it APPEARS to me not bolded but is, indeed bolded. Like I said before, this is probably something over which you have no control.
Like I said, not a criticism, just a comment, and you have really developed one VERY GOOD distro.

If it works on Ubuntu and not on Super OS then I consider it a bug, but it might be hard to solve… The most obvious explanation can be due to the difference of Firefox versions, or related to the system fonts (Super OS includes more fonts). Lets hope this will be OK in next Super OS releases…
