Call to all fans! Seeders needed!
October 12, 2010Hello to all.
I would like to suggest to all Super OS “fans and friends” to seed the Super OS 10.10 ISOs for a few days, if possible.
The first hours/days of every new release are critical, with many users trying to download and very few initial seeders/uploaders.
In about a week, the torrents will probably have gained “critical mass” and won’t need seeds so badly, but for now, that is important.
And the longer you seed, the better, since it ensures fast downloads for all of us
Thank you,
hacktolive

hi! thx a lot! I will seed for a week at least but hey, why it took just 2 days now and with the last version you made us wait nearly 8 months??!!
thats speed improvement!!
hacktolive says:
Good question Sir, and with an easy answer.
My old laptop was old and “dying” and it was a pain to create Super OS on it: using Virtual Machines was too slow, and running Ubuntu as a real system while building the ISO at the same time would make the system too slow and non-usable for other things. In practice I had to borrow a “netbook” from someone else, and run Ubuntu from a Live USB: not only that was slow, but the tiny screen would not help; on top of that, reconstructor was not working properly, delaying everything even more.
But now I have a brand new laptop, wich allows me to run a few Virtual Machines at the same time, speeding ISO creation time and making testing/developing much much more easier.
I can’t promise to make future releases with this extreme speed, but unless there are major problems, the big delays of the past are hopefully behind us.

Thanks for all your hard work.
I’ll keep seeding for a few days at least.
Much appreciated.

Not sure I should seed the checksum did not match from this site
Torrent (seeded 24/7)
hacktolive says:
That is strange…
Just to be sure I re-downloaded both torrents, and the hashes match… the Bittorrent technology also has built-in file-integrity checking, so this is not supposed to happen…
Maybe you should try another BT client or just try a HTTP link. In theory, your hash-checking program could also be flawed and be the culprit…

sorry for asking a silly question. but how to make uploading the priority task in utorrent?
hacktolive says:
There are probably other methods, but you can, for example, limit the amount of bandwith of all the others torrents to give priority to a certain torrent: Select all the torrents you want to limit (“ctrl” and “shift” might help), then you right click, and then select “Bandwith allocation” and then select “Low”. In the torrent you want to give priority to, you can do the same thing, but selecting “high” instead.
